I know that I am beautiful
But sometimes I need help remembering.
Like that my hair is beautiful
Because it’s shiny like copper
And soft like bunny fur
And frames my face perfectly.

I know that I am beautiful
But sometimes I need help remembering.
Like that my eyes are beautiful
Because they turn brown when I wear red
And burn green when I cry
And glitter when I’m happy.

I know that I am beautiful
But sometimes I need help remembering.
Like that my skin tells a story
Because my acne shows the stress I can withstand.
Like that my smile is unique to me
Because no one else’s teeth tilt in the places mine do.
Like that my body is every bit as sexy as Jessica Alba’s
Because every sacred curve is where it’s supposed to be.

I know that I am beautiful.

Catherine Klassen
