You walk out the door, expecting me to follow

To always be behind you, one step at a time

Maybe, I’m tired of never being wanted

If I stopped chasing you, would it be a crime?

.

You glance back, expecting me to be there

You want me to forever be your back up plan

You realized that I have gone my own way

And a path without you, has just began

.

You never knew my strengths, just my flaws

I’m tired of being your stupid little shadow

I am standing up for what I believe in

This is the time, the time for me to glow

.

I wipe off the dirt, and pick up my pieces

I am now going to be as strong as can be

Because without you in my life

Maybe, just possibly, I can finally be me.
